Nestled against the rolling hills of the Samoborsko Gorje, just outside the hustle and bustle of Zagreb, stands the Marton Museum, a cultural gem hidden away from the outside world. Amidst this bucolic pastoral location, among the forests and mountain streams that dot the landscape of this pristine area, time almost stands still. Here visitors can enjoy our treasures in a relaxed setting, and perhaps even enjoy a leisurely stroll through the nearby centuries old town square. Well known for its Kremšnite (cream slice pastries) and Fašnik (Carnival) celebrations, Samobor itself offers a wealth of experiences waiting to be discovered.
Croatia has a well deserved reputation as one of the world's premier tourist destinations. In addition to our institution, there are many other activities awaiting visitors both in the immediate vicinity and throughout the rest of Croatia.
The Marton Museum is open for visits on weekends, both Saturday and Sunday, from 10:00 to 13:00 o' clock. Admission rates are as follows:
- Adults                                                             20 Croatian Kuna
- Senior Citizens, Students, and Children           15 Croatian Kuna
Groups are welcome at the Marton Museum, and special arrangements can be easily made to accomodate the relatively small size of the museum. Please call ahead to confirm plans for groups of five persons or more, a special charge for group guides throughout the museum may apply.
Reaching Samobor from Zagreb is easy either by car or bus. Regular Samobor - Zagreb bus service departs from the main bus station in Samobor, and from Ljubljanica and ÄŒrnomerec terminals in Zagreb. For those planning to reach us by auto, below is a map showing exactly where we are located.
